Entrepreneurship — behind the scenes.

Marketing can do a number of incredible things for you. I am talking this from a perspective of someone who is not an expert in that particular field, but just someone who just had the opportunity to witness the “backstage” of what it is to be building a business.

The central stage rarely gives away the mechanism behind it, no more than you would see on a clock or Beyoncé’s performance.

The long hours, the effort, the investment, the passion.. and then also anticipation, sight of the unknown and great courage with every step taken.

The main reason I have to mention marketing is because marketing does this incredible thing of putting these huge, thick curtains between what you’re allowed to and — meant to observe, and a place extreme vulnerability on the other side.

It looks so easy, effortless almost. However, we all put a front in one way or another, regardless of how authentic we want to appear.

Going through social media, I’m noticing how crowded it becomes with seemingly personal stories of both struggles and successes, and in many cases even the text structure is similar from one post to another.

Stories sell.

I say that, like you’ve never heard that before. You must have, I’m sure.

However, years ago, I’ve had this realization or whatever you might want to call it — that it’s often the people who tell you most about themselves, are equivalent to being emotionally closed. Every story a person shares is also a story about how they want to be seen. (… even if at times they naively believe they are being open and allowing themselves to be seen.)

Words are powerful. Words and imagery we serve to the world. Often words are the measure of distance between you and the world. Words are our ways of shielding, of control.

D’you know the big problem with a disguise, Mr. Holmes? However hard you try, it’s always a self-portrait.

The point i was trying to get to, is that when it comes to entrepreneurship, it’s something you have to experience for yourself, because unless you try you will never know. You will also never know the true value of something unless you grow and nurture it from the very beginning. Personal business is like a child, that by growing, also grows you. The unpredictability can be dizzying and overwhelming, and mostly you will have to agree to having minimum level of control, but isn’t all life really — just like that? You ride the waves that are coming your way.

It’s rarely so fancy and romantic behind the scenes. The story of success (or getting there, for that matter), isn’t always supported by the same reality. Sometimes no matter how much you try, you won’t be getting the results you want, and it will be devastating. At those times, you will have to rely on your friends who are paddling in the same boat, in their own ways. No matter how hard it gets at times, it will still be a great time and hopefully you’ll also build a strong support system in the process. You’ll get stronger, more determined, and definitely wiser. You’ll learn to trust yourself and others.

When it comes to choosing associates or mentors, you will have to rely on your intuition. You will also be relying on your intuition when it comes to building your business should you choose so. A lot of it is just trying out this and that, until something finally makes sense and takes shape. What I can tell you first hand, is that it’s an incredibly rewarding experience, and it’s not entirely about the money.

The journey starts with one single step of taken responsibility for your life. This world needs more leaders. This world needs more dreams coming true. This world needs more people willing to pursue their passion and leaving a legacy. This world simply..needs more people who are ready to step into their creative power, and understanding there’s more than one way to be creative.

I chose entrepreneurship because it enables me to do those things. Following my intuition, collaboration with people i respect and admire, leaving a legacy (because otherwise what’s the point?)… aaand because it set me free the first moment i choose to see it through.

Fortune certainly favors the brave.
